Meghalaya, the “Abode of Clouds,” is a scenic northeastern state known for its lush hills, waterfalls, and unique living root bridges, making it ideal for nature lovers and adventure seekers. Highlights include Shillong’s lakes and viewpoints, Cherrapunji’s famous waterfalls and caves, the clean village of Mawlynnong, the crystal-clear Umngot River in Dawki, and the trek to the double-decker root bridge in Nongriat. A 5–6 day trip usually covers these spots, offering a mix of relaxation and exploration, best enjoyed between October and April when the weather is pleasant.
Begin your journey with a morning pickup from Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, followed by a scenic drive to Shillong via the picturesque Umiam Lake. Enjoy a photo stop at Umiam Lake (Barapani) before continuing to Shillong for hotel check-in. In the evening, you can relax at your leisure by exploring Police Bazaar, visiting local cafés, and enjoying some shopping. Overnight stay in Shillong.
Start your day with breakfast at the hotel, followed by a full-day excursion to Cherrapunjee (Sohra). Visit popular attractions including Nohkalikai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls, Mawsmai Cave, and Eco Park, while enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding cliffs and valleys. In the evening, return to Shillong for an overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, drive to Dawki to experience the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River, with an optional boat ride available (subject to availability). Then proceed to Mawlynnong, known as Asia’s cleanest village, where you will visit the Living Root Bridge and the Sky View Point. Return to Shillong by evening for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive back to Guwahati. You will be dropped off at the airport or railway station, marking the end of your tour with beautiful memories of Meghalaya.
